We envision a future where tennis empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and inspires a healthier more inclusive society.

About Us

Hiromi’s Story

Growing up the tennis club was my play area since my parents played tennis everyday as recreational players. I have 2 siblings who both played tennis growing up. My dream has been to be a professional tennis player since I was 7 years old. 

Tennis is a rich person’s sport in Japan, and I would say my family was just average middle class. For my parents to put us in the Junior program for over 10 years took a lot of hard work and sacrifice from them. 

The owner of the tennis club must have seen our potential and also passion for tennis and they opened up the door for our family and helped us pay tuition and the coaches gave up their free time to coach us up without pay on their day off. ”The coaches” did not only teach me how to play tennis, they taught me how to live life. I was taught lifelong enjoyment of the sport. 40 + years later they are still my mentors. These coaches made me the person who I am now. 

My dream is to open the door for children to give them the opportunity and support to have the same experience support I received from so many people.

How to Help

Sponsor and Scholarships

We are here to open doors for children who often face obstacles to the resources that could change their lives. California alone is home to around 45,000 foster children, and countless families live at or below the poverty line. Many of these children have never had the chance to experience activities like tennis, which builds critical skills like discipline, problem-solving, and resilience. Through our programs, we provide free or discounted tennis lessons, among other things, to these children, equipping them not only with sports skills but also with confidence and life tools that will serve them, well into adulthood. We also provide scholarships for every junior program we run including summer camp, winter camp, day camps, tournament entry fees, equipment, and meals when needed. It is our mission at Dream Team HJK Tennis, to support kids in need regardless of financial ability.
